New website adamjohnstone.co launched!

My web site is up & running!
In the digital world where our first impressions can fade as quickly as a click of a mouse, creating a personal website is like a public unveiling of part of oneself.
The truth, this website is the car I’ve been putting off fixing for years
Let’s be real, I’ve been putting this off for years, fearful of what some might think, how they would judge my website, coding skills and design flair… it became kinda like the mechanics car…
Everyone else’s car was fixed to perfection, while mine lay rusted on the shop floor. I needed to either do a job of it at 500% or not at all.
Thus, that was the case when I launched my new website which is my adamjohnstone.co, a project which is not only meant for showcasing my professional portfolio but also a platform that demonstrates my identity, beliefs, and development.
This is the image of how I see the relationship between myself and the clients I work with through this website. It is designed to make me able to communicate my experiences, skills and my opinions in a way that most people can relate to.
My MVP for me is this website, it’s definetely not perfect
This website was my MVP, born from deep reflection and a drive to transcend the norms of typical websites.
I aimed to develop a portal that was not just educational, but also interactive, calling for the would-be employers as well as my team to relate with the content in a realistic manner. The development process started with the blueprint which aimed to have an intuitive navigation, visual appeal, and content relatedness. The goal was to make a really cool and friendly interface which will be simple and attractive for users. And will allow them to explore easily my work and interests.
Optimizing user experience
The UX optimization took a considerable amount of time during development. Aware of the fact that perfect digital experience is of a crucial importance, I diligently designed each page with the aim of reducing the loading times, making it mobile-friendly, and ensuring accessibility.
To me I needed to practice what I preach, a “very green” google lighthouse score was super important and I’m proud to say I’ve achieved it!

Design choices for Google Lighthouse
Our design choices were deliberate with the minimalist theme highlighting content giving the environment an aesthetically pleasing feel. The approach was complemented by well thought out typography and color schemes that increase legibility and good influence the whole site’s mood.
Creating of content for adamjohnstone.co
Creating content was another vital component in making adamjohnstone.co coherent. I tried to put together a mash-up of professional accomplishments, personal endeavors, and thoughts that give a holistic picture of my journey.
Every part of the website was written to give you an idea of my approach to technology and design, philosophies and inspirations I believe. A content strategy is not only consisting of listing of achievements but is a way in which a story is told to the audience that they connect on a personal level.
Feb 13th - the “not quite” valentines day launch
The website launch of adamjohnstone.co for me was a marker, and signified the end of long hours of planning, design and coding.
However, it was the start of a new era for me to start putting myself out there online, with the possibility to meet new people and demonstrate my abilities and effort spent to them.
This website serves as a technological document for my travels in the commercial space as well as personal and I intend it to be a beacon for my opinions and hopefully serve as a log of what I’ve experienced now and well into the future.
